No oil here!

The Beaches of Sanibel and Captiva are Clean and Pristine!

Recent projections by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report the probability of oil impacting our destination is less than 1 percent.

Sanibel and Captiva are among the most beautiful islands in the world and they continue to be even during such troubling times. Our area has not physically been affected by the Deep Water Horizon oil catastrophe. The beaches here on the islands are as clean and charming as they have ever been, but a looming threat lurks. That threat is not so much a pollution threat, but a perception threat. Our beaches are clean and our waters are in no imminent danger. It is important for visitors to keep the following in mind.

  • Currently, there is no local impact from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
  • We are open for business.
  • We don't know if our area will be affected, but it is in no imminent danger
