Your Captains

They're  Old, Salty, Impatient, Smell, Don't Take Questions, Don't Smile, Won't Listen, Give Up Half Way, And In General Could Care Less What You, Me, Or Anybody Else Thinks...Thanks and Have a Nice Day.. ;-)

Capt. Noah

I've been a licensed captain and fishing guide for the past seven years, but have been fishing Sanibel and the surrounding waters my entire life. Lucky for me I was raised on Sanibel, so the backwaters have been like a backyard, and naturally took up fishing at a young age. The result was an early appreciation for the unique waters that surround Sanibel, which has continually developed through today. I can't help but grin before, during and after trips because I truly feel lucky to be doing what I'm doing.

Capt. Bob

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and served in the U.S. Navy aboard destroyer USS Bigelow. I then began a career with AT&T where I met my wife of 49 years who was a Long Distance Operator in the same building. Ruby is her name. You’ll find her on the boat as First Mate! We have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

I took up sailing and we eventually spent many summers sailing on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. In 1987 I acquired my 100 ton master Captain's License and began working for BB Riverboats on the Ohio River. We arrived in Fort Myers in 1994 and I have now been working with Adventures In Paradise for 14 years! This has been a great job. We have learned so much about the local history and the abundant wildlife. We especially enjoy the people who come aboard. We love to show them our beautiful estuary and the wonderful creatures who live here.

Capt. Jim

Born in Louisiana's "Sportsman's Paradise", at the age of 10 my family moved to the Florida panhandle to begin a life long love of things aquatic and the great outdoors. That's where I discovered the pleasures of motor boating, sailing, river canoeing, camping, spring snorkeling, surfing and saltwater fishing as well as star gazing by the fire. While attending school I obtained a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton master Captain’s license with sailing and towing endorsements. After graduating in Tampa I worked as a Radar Engineer at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. I later taught Radar school and then Sailing school.  During that time I took several rather long "Sailing Vacations" on my sailboat. I enjoy being on the water, traveling, building small boats and other novel gadgets.

Motto: "Wherever you go - you take yourself with you" - so leave your worries behind (and the mosquitoes) and go on an "Adventure in Paradise". Who knows you might even get to spot "Big Boy" for yourself ! (Hey, and even if you don't, you will still have a lot of new memories and photos of your visit here with us in S/W Florida to share with your families and friends when you return to your home). See Ya soon !!!

Note: Capt. Jim has reportedly been found guilty of "Unreliable Testimonies" such as; the occasional sightings of "Big Boy" the 800 lb Great White Dolphin at Foster's Bay in North Captiva Island, Florida and also the elusive "Gator Trout" Hy-brid off of Sanibel Shoals. Has also claimed to being capable of keeping mosquitoes out of a tent WITH OUT the aid of bug spray while camping in the Everglades.

Capt. Harvey

Born in Minnesota, “the land of ten thousand lakes”, we boated primarily on Lake Superior. My wife Candy and I moved to Florida fifteen years ago bringing our power boat by water from Lake Superior to Cape Coral. The journey took us through 84 locks in 28 days.

I have a 100 ton master license with commercial assistance towing issued by the United States Coast Guard. In addition, I have successfully completed all of the instructor certification, safety, and navigation courses offered by the United States Power Squadron (USPS) including celestial navigation. The USPS is an organization dedicated to provide Safe Boating Through Education and supports community activities related to safe boating.

At “Adventures In Paradise”, your choices are many. Backwater fishing, sealife encounters, shelling, dolphin watch, sunset cruises, boat and kayak rentals as well as private charters, are some of the offerings. Come on aboard.

You can expect a safe and enjoyable water adventure with a friendly and knowledgeable crew!

All Aboard!
